Man charged with murder after death of man in Gloucester
A man has been charged with murder after an 80-year-old man died in Gloucester on Thursday night (2/7/26).
Officers were called to Alney Terrace at around 9pm.
55-year-old Lawrence Robert Whayman is set to appear in court this morning (4/7/26).
A Police statement said:
"Police have charged a man with the murder of an 80-year-old man in Gloucester on Thursday night (2 July).
"Lawrence Robert Whayman, aged 55 and of Alney Terrace, Gloucester, will appear at Cheltenham Magistrates' Court later this morning (Saturday 4 July).
"The charge relates to an incident that took place on Thursday night, when emergency services were called to a report of a man being injured at a property on Alney Terrace at around 9pm.
"A police presence will remain at the scene throughout the weekend while enquiries continue to take place."
