Man, 18, dies after collision involving e-scooter and car in Cheltenham

Police are continuing to appeal for dashcam footage and witnesses

An 18-year-old man has died following a collision involving an e-scooter and a car in Cheltenham on Saturday night (January 24th).

Emergency services were called at around 11pm to the collision on St Paul's Road, near the junction with Folly Lane.

The man, who was riding the e-scooter, was taken to Southmead Hospital after the collision, but died in hospital on Sunday evening (January 25th).

Police say his family is being supported by a specially trained officer.

A man in his 20s from Cheltenham was arrested on Sunday on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He was later rearrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Four other people have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

According to Gloucestershire Police, the driver of the car involved, thought to be a white Kia, did not stop at the scene.

A white Kia has since been seized to allow further investigative work to take place.

Those who were arrested have since been released under investigation while further enquiries take place.

Police are continuing to ask for anyone who witnessed the collision or who has dashcam footage to come forward.
