Gloucestershire County Council (GCC) has relaunched ‘Made in Gloucestershire’ for a third year since the launch of the campaign in 2023, with a focus this year on supporting rural food and drink businesses and producers.
GCC says it's "to shine a spotlight on the incredible diversity and quality of produce from the county's rural areas, fostering greater recognition and economic growth for these vital contributors to our local economy."
The event now has over 160 members and affiliates, and they say the relaunch promises more benefits and opportunities for rural businesses across our county.
GCC is encouraging more businesses to sign up to join the initiative, with a number of case studies being produced and publicity opportunities arising.
They've also announced a new category in the prestigious SoGlos Awards: 'Best Rural Food and Drink Business'.
"This category will celebrate the outstanding achievements of rural producers and highlight their contributions to Gloucestershire's vibrant food and drink scene."
Cllr Stephen Davies, Leader of Gloucestershire County Council, expressed his enthusiasm for the relaunch: “The 'Made in Gloucestershire' initiative has been a cornerstone in promoting our county's rich heritage of food and drink.
"By focusing on rural businesses, we are not only celebrating their unique contributions but also ensuring they receive the recognition and support they deserve.
"This relaunch, coupled with the new SoGlos Awards category, marks a significant step forward in our commitment to fostering a thriving local economy.
"We look forward to seeing the continued success and growth of our rural food and drink producers."
