A man in his 30s has been hospitalised following a shooting incident in Lechlade, Gloucestershire.

At around 7.10pm on 20th April, police received calls that a man had discharged a firearm at another man who was sitting in a car on Butler's Field.

The victim managed to drive away and enter a property before emergency services arrived and took him to hospital.

His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

The suspect, identified as a man in his 20s, initially tried to flee in a vehicle but collided with parked cars.

He then left the scene on foot.

A search operation, supported by armed officers and the National Police Air Service, led to his arrest in Fairford before 10pm.

He was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody.

Acting Detective Inspector Sophie Dawkins from Gloucestershire Police's Criminal Investigation Department expressed concern over the incident, highlighting its impact on local residents during the ongoing search.

"We're in the early stages of an investigation," Dawkins said. "At this time, it is understood that those involved are known to each other, and we’re not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident. Those living nearby will see an enhanced police presence over the coming days."
