Police continue their investigations this afternoon (13 June) after a serious assault in Gloucester.
Officers were called to Stroud Road in the early hours of yesterday morning.
A man in his 50s suffered a serious head injury.
Officers in Gloucestershire have confirmed that he was taken to hospital, but has since been discharged.
In a statement, Gloucestershire Police confirmed: "We're appealing for witnesses to a serious assault which took place on Stroud Road in Gloucester in the early hours of this morning (12 June).
"Police were called by the ambulance service at around 2am with a report that a man had sustained a serious head injury.
"The victim, a man in his 50s, was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.
"A scene guard was put in place while police examined the scene.
"Investigating officers are currently conducting enquiries in the area and they would now like to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened or who has CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage which they feel may be relevant.
"Information can be provided to police online by completing the following form and quoting incident 27 of 12 June.
"Information can also be submitted anonymously by contacting the independent crime-fighting charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or through their online form."
