Police have released an image of a man they want to speak to after a man in his 70s was seriously injured in a fall on a bus in Gloucester.

It has been reported that a man twice entered a stationary bus at Gloucester Transport Hub on Sunday 30 August, and asked to travel to Cheltenham when he did not have money for the fare.

On both occasions, the bus driver asked the man to leave the bus.

Police said it is understood that as the driver tried to get the man to get off for the second time, a male passenger who was already on the bus approached the pair in the stairwell and exchanged words with the man.

During this exchange, the passenger, who is in his 70s, fell down the steps and out of the bus.

He was taken to hospital with fractures to his ribs and pelvis.

Officers are investigating the circumstances of the man's fall.

Police attended the scene, but the man in the image left on foot and was not found after a search of the area.

Officers have carried out multiple enquiries since and are now asking the man to contact police and give his account of what happened.

The investigating officer would also like to hear from other passengers who were on the bus at the time and who may have seen what happened or recorded the incident.
