New South Gloucestershire plan aims to boost access to affordable, healthy food
New partnership plan launched to improve access to affordable, healthy food in South Gloucestershire
Local food organisations, businesses and community groups have joined forces to launch a new plan aimed at strengthening South Gloucestershire’s food system.
The South Gloucestershire Local Food Partnership Action Plan 2026–2028 sets out 26 actions over the next two years to tackle rising food costs, food insecurity and the impact of climate change.
The initiative focuses on increasing local food availability, cutting waste, supporting businesses and improving access to healthy, affordable food for residents.
It has been shaped by feedback from more than 1,500 residents, who raised concerns about food affordability, access and health.
Around 80 partners are now involved in the scheme, including farmers, food businesses, community groups, councils and researchers.
Councillor Louise Harris said the plan will bring organisations together to make food more accessible and sustainable, while supporting the local economy and helping residents manage rising costs.
