Hartpury University FC are hoping to make it to Wembley as they take part in the 2nd leg of the FA Vase semi-finals.

The team have some work to do this afternoon as they lost 2-0 to Whitstable Town in the first leg but their hopes are still high.

It has been 43 years since a team from Gloucestershire last made it to the final of the competition and the team are looking to close that gap in what would be historic for the university and the county.

Hartpury University FC formed just five years ago and are now aiming to make history by reaching the final and potentially achieving a remarkable 'double' as they currently sit at the top of the Hellenic League Premier Division.

Speaking to Greatest Hits Radio, the assistant director of elite sport and chairman of the club Marc Richards said: “we’ve managed to get through quite a few rounds with narrow one nil victories and now we find ourself one game away from potentially reaching the final.

“However, we’ve got a bit of an uphill task on our hands because the first leg was played on Saturday at Whitstable Town in front of 2905 raucous fans which was an interesting experience for our student and a really good learning curve.”

The team are encouraging locals to come out, buy a ticket and support the students as they play the home game at 4ED Hartpury Stadium.

They’re set to see the largest number of fans ever attend the match which has a 3 o’clock kick off.
