Gloucestershire police officer who made homophobic comment dismissed

A police officer who made a homophobic comment about his colleagues has been dismissed without notice.
PC Chase Frost swore and referenced two of his senior colleagues’ sexuality after being told he had been suspended from driving police vehicles in January this year as a result of an incident in which minor damage was caused to a police car.
PC Frost’s supervisor reported the comment to our Professional Standards Department and the Response Officer was subsequently the subject of gross misconduct proceedings which concluded yesterday, following a hearing at Police Headquarters.
The panel which oversaw the hearing concluded PC Frost’s comment amounted to a breach of the standards of professional behaviour relating to Authority, Respect and Courtesy; Equality and Diversity and Discreditable Conduct.
In addition to being dismissed without notice, PC Frost has also been added to the Police Barred List.
Deputy Chief Constable Katy Barrow-Grint said: “PC Frost’s reaction to being told he temporarily couldn’t drive a police vehicle was unprofessional, unacceptable and intentional discrimination.
“The language he used was offensive and degrading to his colleagues as well as the wider LGBTQ+ community.
“We are committed to being an anti-discriminatory organisation and will continue to robustly manage any officer or member of police staff who fails to demonstrate this commitment to the public and our workforce.”
