Former police officer barred after sexually harassing woman at house party
Ex-PC Oliver Wilson would have been dismissed for gross misconduct had he not resigned
A former police officer who sexually harassed a woman while off-duty at a house party in Frampton on Severn in September 2023 has been barred from policing.
A gross misconduct hearing at Police Headquarters in Quedgeley, Gloucester, on 1st December concluded that ex-PC Oliver Wilson would have been dismissed without notice had he not already resigned from the force.
The hearing heard that Wilson displayed inappropriate behaviour at the gathering, which resulted in him being asked to leave. Following this, he became aggressive and was involved in an altercation with a man, leading to minor injuries for both individuals.
While Wilson was not charged with any criminal offences, the incident was reported to the professional standards department, which initiated gross misconduct proceedings.
The panel concluded that his actions breached the College of Policing’s Standards of Professional Behaviour in relation to Discreditable Conduct and Authority, Respect and Courtesy.
Deputy Chief Constable Katy Barrow-Grint commented: “Police officers must uphold the standards expected of them both on and off-duty.
“There is no place for anyone who behaves sexually inappropriately or violently in policing and had PC Wilson not resigned he would have been dismissed without notice.”
Wilson's name has now been added to the Police Barred List.
