A man has died following a collision in the Forest of Dean on Friday 25th July, prompting a police investigation and an appeal for witnesses.

The incident took place shortly before 11pm on the A4136 near Staunton and involved a car and a pedestrian. Emergency services rushed to the scene, but the pedestrian – a man in his 50s – was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital as a precaution and later discharged. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Road closures were in place while collision investigators examined the scene but have since been lifted.

Police are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who may have dashcam footage from the area at the time, to come forward. They are particularly interested in speaking to anyone who may have seen a person in the road between 9.30pm and 11pm that evening.
