Forest Green Rovers have announced the signing of centre-back, Tom McIntyre, on a short-term deal, until January 2027. The 27 year-old joins the squad immediately and will be in contention for tomorrow's fixture against Hartlepool United.

The left-footed centre-back brings a wealth of EFL experience to the Rovers back line, making more than 100 appearances for Reading, between 2018 and 2024, scoring four goals in the process. McIntyre came through the Royals' youth ranks, before making his league debut against Rotherham United, in December 2018.

The defender then joined Portsmouth, in the January 2024 transfer window, to bolster Pompey’s promotion push. McIntyre suffered an unfortunate broken leg on his debut, side-lining him for the rest of the campaign.

Returning from injury late in the calendar year, he started ten successive Championship games, ahead of his loan spells at Charlton Athletic and Bradford City.

The former Scotland youth player left Pompy in February of this year, joining SPFL side Aberdeen on a short-term deal, making five appearances, before picking up an injury.

Director of Football, Mark Bowen, said: “We are really happy to have Tom on board, in an area of the pitch where we have needed reinforcement, due to injury.

"Having worked with Tom during my time at Reading, I know the qualities he can bring to the team, with his extensive EFL experience, leadership qualities and undoubted ability; he’ll be available heading into tomorrow’s game, against Hartlepool.”
