Women and girls teams axed at Forest Green Rovers
Clubs says investment's needed to get men's side promoted

Forest Green Rovers has announced it will be stepping back from women and girl's football for the new season after ending its current partnership with Hartpury University, which included joint involvement in the Elite Training Centre for girls aged 9 to 16.
According to a club spokesman, discussions had been held regarding a potential joint team, but a decision made by the university has ruled out such a possibility.
It's led Forest Green Rovers to focus its resources on strengthening the club with an aim to return to the English Football League as quickly as possible.
Despite stepping back, Forest Green Rovers says it values its previous partnership with Hartpury and will continue to support the university as they develop the programme through Hartpury Women FC.
The club is expressing optimism about future involvement in women's football and has indicated a desire to return to it when "circumstances allow for a sustainable and successful programme".
Rovers has thanked the players, staff, volunteers, and supporters involved in the women's programme, wishing them success moving forward.
