Gloucestershire fire service wants public voice on proposals
New proposals will change how fire cover is provided in parts of the county.
Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue service have launched a public consultation on proposals to change how some of its fire engines are crewed.
These proposals are based on detailed analysis of risk, incident data, and response times across the county.
Within the proposals, Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service outline an aim to reallocate overnight staff from Cheltenham West to Cinderford to ensure more reliable daytime fire cover in the Forest of Dean, where demand and risk are highest.
Any changes have been designed to help ensure that firefighters are in the right place, at the right time, to respond to emergencies and support communities.
Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue service assure the public that their priority is, and always will be, the safety of the public and firefighters.
Feedback from the consultation will help guide decisions on bringing in these changes.
The consultation will run until 28th September 2026. Residents, organisations, and Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service employees are encouraged to have their say.
