Man fined and banned from driving for drink driving in Pucklechurch
Driver sentenced for exceeding alcohol limit after short journey home
A 71-year-old man has been sentenced after driving home from a pub in Pucklechurch, South Gloucestershire, while over the legal alcohol limit.
Brian Trent pleaded guilty at Bristol Magistrates’ Court on 26th May to driving a vehicle while over the alcohol limit.
He received an 18-month driving ban and a fine of £1,850, along with court costs and a victim surcharge of £825.
Trent was stopped by officers on 15th April outside his home shortly after driving a short distance from the nearby pub.
After failing a roadside breath test, he was taken into custody and later charged.
PC Edward Walsh, the officer in the case, emphasised the dangers of drink driving, stating it poses risks to both the driver and others.
He highlighted that even short journeys, such as the 300-metre trip Trent undertook, can lead to serious harm.
The police are committed to enforcing the law to protect road users, Walsh said.
