Motorists travelling between Sharpness Docks and Brockworth should prepare for delays as police escort abnormal loads through Gloucestershire over the coming days.

A manufacturing press and various ancillary components, collectively weighing over 600 tonnes, will be transported from Sharpness Docks to Brockworth in the evening hours.

The scheduled movements will take place from 6pm on the evenings of 7th, 8th, 9th, 15th, and 16th April.

The convoy will begin in Sharpness, navigating two unclassified roads before progressing along the B4066, A38, B4509, and entering the M5 at junction 14 near Falfield.

The vehicles will use the M5 northbound exit slip road at junction 14 and exit at junction 11A north to join the A417.

Traffic will be paused to facilitate the entry and exit of this oversized cargo on both the M5 and A417.

The loads will continue along the A417 to the B4641, progressing through Delta Way and Hurricane Road before reaching Brockworth.

Given the load's significant size and weight, the transporting vehicles will be restricted to a speed of 12 miles per hour.

Road closures will occur as necessary during manoeuvres, and Highways staff may need to remove roadside furniture to accommodate the transport.

The force has apologised for the inconvenience and advise motorists to avoid the affected routes during the specified times to sidestep significant delays, particularly on the M5 northbound and A417.
