Tributes pour in after death of former Gloucestershire Uni student in London

Tributes are being paid by the community at the University of Gloucestershire after the death of a former student.
Brendan McMillan, who was a rugby star, tragically lost his life alongside his father Terry in an incident that occurred in Southwark on Monday.
Sharing a statement on social media, they added: "Brendan was a well-loved UoG Sports Management graduate of 2020, and a valued member of our University rugby union team. Brendan proudly went on to represent Jamaica on the international stage.
"He was known to many across our community, and his legacy as a talented athlete and warm-hearted individual will not be forgotten.
"The thoughts of everyone at University of Gloucestershire and our Students’ Union are with Brendan and his father Terry’s loved ones at this devastating time.
"We encourage staff and students to access our support services should you need them."
This comes as the Metropolitan Police say they have made an arrest following the death of the two men in Southwark earlier this week.
A 31-year-old man was brought in by officers on suspicion of murder following an investigation, led by detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command.
The man from Hackney, who had been initially detained in connection with the incident, was arrested on Monday, 28 July.
He remains in hospital but his condition is not life-threatening.
Officers were called at 1pm on Monday, 28 July to reports that multiple people had been assaulted at a business unit in Long Lane, Bermondsey SE1.
Police and the London Ambulance Service attended the scene and treated four people for stab wounds.
Despite the best efforts of paramedics, 27-year-old Brendan McMillan died at the scene.
His 58-year-old father Terry McMillan from Chislehurst, Bromley, sadly died shortly afterwards in hospital. Their next of kin are aware and being supported by specialist officers.
A 47-year-old man remains in hospital with non-life-threatening or life-changing injuries.
Investigations continue 'at pace'
Detective Chief Superintendent Emma Bond, who leads policing for the area, said: “Our thoughts are first and foremost with the family and friends of the victims of this tragic incident. Our investigation continues at pace and we are working hard to understand the full circumstances.
“I understand there may be concern in the local community and there will be an increased police presence in the area over the coming days. I would also encourage anyone who may be worried to speak to an officer.”
The incident took place in a business premises and officers continue to investigate the circumstances.
The force say they are aware of speculation the suspect was staying at a local hotel which is not the case.
