Custody extension granted over Gloucester house fire investigation
A woman's been arrested, on suspicion of murder
A custody extension has been granted, for a woman who was arrested in connection with the death of another woman, after a house fire in Gloucester.
Detectives, investigating the death of an older woman, have been given until this evening (Monday 17 August), to continue questioning a woman in her 60s and from Gloucester.
The woman was arrested yesterday (Sunday 16 August), on suspicion of murder and arson with intent to endanger life.
Emergency services were called to Elmgrove Road West, in Hardwicke, shortly before 4am yesterday, to a report of a fire.
Officers attended the scene, along with crews from the fire and ambulance services.
The property was searched and a woman in her 90s was found unconscious inside.
Emergency services performed CPR, but despite their best efforts the woman was pronounced dead. Her next of kin has been informed.
A cordon remains in place, while police and fire investigators continue their inquiries.
Officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and are asking anyone with information, which could assist, to make contact.
