Closure orders issued for two Cirencester properties
The orders aim to protect community and vulnerable residents in Watermoor area
Closure orders have been issued for two properties in Cirencester following numerous reports of anti-social behaviour linked to the addresses.
The properties, located in the Watermoor area of the town, were subjected to the orders by the Cotswold Neighbourhood Policing Team to safeguard vulnerable individuals living nearby and to reduce distress within the community.
Evidence was gathered with the assistance of the community and housing associations, enabling the closure orders to be granted at Cheltenham Magistrates' Court on Tuesday 23rd June.
The orders restrict access to the properties, allowing only certain named individuals and agencies.
Non-compliance with the orders is considered a criminal offence and may lead to imprisonment for up to three months, a fine, or both.
These measures will remain in force until Tuesday 22nd September 2026, with local officers conducting regular checks to ensure adherence.
Inspector Philippa Moore emphasised the issues caused by the behaviour linked to these properties, stating: “The anti-social behaviour associated with these addresses in Cirencester has blighted the local community.
“It has also been a huge drain on police resources as our officers have had to respond to countless incidents at the properties.
“We have followed up on the reports of anti-social behaviour and taken positive action in securing Closure Orders on both properties. I hope this will target offenders in our community and make residents feel safer.”
Anti-social behaviour encompasses actions likely to cause harassment, alarm, distress, nuisance, or annoyance to others and is commonly associated with criminal activity.
