A Cheltenham woman is taking on a Pink Ribbon Walk to raise money and awareness for breast cancer charities.
Rocio Sanchez who lives in Cheltenham was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023 after finding a lump that she thought was just a cyst.
However, as her lump became increasingly uncomfortable, she was diagnosed with stage one and two oestrogen positive breast cancer.
After undergoing a mastectomy, radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatment Rocio is spreading the message to check your breasts to help with early detection.
Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in the world with around 55,000 women and 400 men diagnosed every year in the UK.
Rocio will be taking on the pink ribbon walk on the 10th of May at Blenheim Palace and says she will be surrounded by the women that supported her through her diagnosis and treatment.
Rocio said: “It’s so important to create awareness that women should go to their GP if they feel something isn’t right but also, that it can be ok.
“That you can overcome your illness and that you can discover things within yourself.
“I want to tell women my age that it can be fine, that it can pass. I think that is my purpose.”
