Cheltenham woman to hike Pen y Fan for children's bereavement charity
Hayley aims to raise funds for Winston’s Wish on Mother's Day
Cheltenham woman Hayley Allinson is set to lace up her hiking boots this Mother’s Day as she participates in 'Hike for Hope,' a sunrise climb up South Wales’ tallest peak, Pen y Fan.
The hike seeks to raise funds and awareness for the children’s bereavement charity Winston’s Wish and their efforts in supporting grieving children and young people.
The charity helped Hayley following the loss of her mother.
Hayley said, “I thought it would be a great way to give back to an amazing charity that has helped me when I was younger and also give myself a good distraction on Mother’s Day.
“I always make sure to give myself something to do on big events like Mother's Day, my mum's birthday, and the anniversary of her death so that it gives me more time to reflect on happy memories rather than sitting at home and feeling sad."
Last year, Winston’s Wish supported over 96,000 children and young people, providing bereavement support and advice directly to young individuals as well as parents, carers, and professionals.
The charity aims to tackle the complexities faced by bereaved children, particularly on days like Mother’s Day.
