Cheltenham Playhouse aim to raise £80,000
The campaign is their 80th anniversary fundraiser.
Cheltenham Playhouse Theatre have set out to raise £80,000 for their 80th year in operation.
The funds would help the theatre to continue to thrive as a creative hub for the community.
During the covid pandemic they used up a lot of their reserves in order to survive and this fundraiser would help rebuild their safety net.
Money from the fundraiser would also go towards important renovations at the Grade II listed venue.
One of their bigger projects is to fix their roof.
Keiran Mortell who is on their board of trustees said; “we’ve been raising the roof for so many years we’ve put a little hole in it”.
The theatre prides itself on its community involvement with many of their performances including local amateur dramatics clubs.
Mortell said “we are for he community by the community”.
They have raised over £6000 so far through a just giving page and have fundraising events planned throughout the year.
