Cheltenham officer injured after e-scooter incident
Teenage boy arrested on suspicion of careless driving
A police officer in Cheltenham sustained a broken leg after being hit by an e-scooter driven by a teenage boy.
The incident occurred as Gloucestershire Police were responding to a break-in.
Officers were called on the evening of 28th August following reports of three males with face coverings gaining entry to a building in Cheltenham.
At approximately 10.40 pm, during the response, one officer was struck by a council scheme e-scooter being ridden by a teenage boy.
The officer suffered a broken leg and an injury to his ACL.
He was taken to the hospital by paramedics and has since been discharged but will need further treatment.
A teenage boy from Cheltenham was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving.
He was released on police bail pending further enquiries.
Gloucestershire Police confirmed that the boy arrested in connection with the e-scooter incident is not considered a suspect in the break-in being investigated.
