Body found in search for 19 year old in Forest of Dean

Police had been looking for Sam - who'd been reporting missing

A body has been found in the search for a missing teenager in the Forest of Dean.

Gloucestershire Police have confirmed the discovery was made by a member of the public yesterday (Sunday 20th April 2025).

While formal identification has not yet taken place, the family of 19-year-old Sam - who'd been reporting missing - have been informed.

Gloucestershire Police statement

A Gloucestershire Police spokesperson said:

A body was found by a member of the public in Drybrook, Forest of Dean yesterday (Sunday 20 April).

While formal identification has not yet taken place, the family of 19-year-old Sam, who had been reported missing from Mitcheldean, has been informed.

The circumstances of the death are not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

An appeal to locate Sam had been issued by police in the early hours of Sunday morning. Police have thanked those who helped with the search and called in with sightings.
