Body found in River Avon during search for missing man in Tewkesbury
The death is not being treated as suspicious
A body has been recovered during searches for a man who entered the River Avon in Tewkesbury last week.
Police were called to the Mythe Road area at around 9pm on 19th December, after eyewitnesses reported seeing someone in the water.
Search efforts, involving partner agencies, were carried out throughout the week. Yesterday, 27th December, a man's body was found and removed from the river.
While formal identification is yet to take place, authorities have confirmed the man’s next of kin has been informed.
The death is not being treated as suspicious, and a file is being prepared for the coroner.
Police have expressed their condolences, saying: “Our thoughts remain with the man’s family at this time.”
