Birdland Park & Gardens in the Cotswolds is inviting families to participate in the 30 Days Wild campaign this June.

The initiative, run by The Wildlife Trusts, encourages people to engage with nature daily and discover the wildlife around them.

Birdland, set among nine acres of gardens and woodland, highlights the benefits of simple interactions with wildlife, such as birdwatching or listening to birdsong, as a way to foster a lifelong interest in conservation.

Activities and Experiences

The 30 Days Wild challenge suggests activities like spotting butterflies, feeding garden birds, and spending more time outdoors to help participants connect with nature.

Birdland is home to many species, including flamingos, owls, endangered Humboldt penguins, and cassowaries, and offers wildlife experiences alongside conservation and education programmes.

A representative from Birdland explained: "30 Days Wild is all about helping people slow down and reconnect with nature, and birds are often one of the easiest and most accessible ways to start. You don’t have to travel far or be a wildlife expert. Whether it’s hearing birdsong in the garden, spotting ducklings at a local park or visiting a wildlife attraction, those small moments can spark curiosity and help people care more about protecting the natural world."

Inspiring Conservation

Birdland encourages using days out in nature for the campaign, emphasising that visiting wildlife attractions can inspire both children and adults to care about conservation and biodiversity.

The attraction offers hand-feeding encounters, penguin talks, and tranquil walks through riverside gardens.

Visitors have the opportunity to see birds such as pelicans, parrots, cranes, and more than 500 other species, including this year's newly-hatched Humboldt penguin chicks.

With summer in full swing, Birdland aims to draw attention to the environmental pressures faced by native and global bird species, hoping that the 30 Days Wild challenge will inspire interest and action in preserving the natural world.
