Canter and her 14-year-old gelding Walter impressed with a composed and harmonious performance
Ros Canter and her horse Lordships Graffalo have made history by winning their third MARS Badminton Horse Trials, a record-breaking achievement never before seen in the event’s 77-year history.
At the competition's conclusion, Canter held a 10.2 penalty lead in the show jumping arena, securing the richest prize in eventing, £125,000.
Completing her round with minimal penalties, Canter and her 14-year-old gelding Walter impressed with a composed and harmonious performance.
Competitors Harry Meade and New Zealander Tim Price both participated in thrilling displays, with Price claiming the runner-up spot.
Price praised his mount Falco: "Falco is a fantastic little horse, all head and heart. If he’s enjoying it and his confidence is there, he gives me everything."
The international top 10 saw Tom Jackson finish fourth, while Katie Magee landed in fifth place.
French riders Gaspard Maksud and Benjamin Massie, and Swiss rider Felix Vogg also scored top positions, alongside Brit Sarah Bullimore.
Ros Canter expressed her emotions post-victory: "It's hard to put into words how I feel right now, but when it sinks in it will be incredible."
Canter hopes this result will solidify Walter's status as a world-renowned horse, encouraging young people to follow their dreams despite pressure challenges.
Harry Meade applauded Canter's achievements: "Her technical ability and coolness under pressure will stand the test of time."
