Avian influenza detected in Gloucestershire poultry farm
Disease control zones established to prevent spread of bird flu
Two cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) have been confirmed in large commercial poultry units within the UK, including one near Brockworth, Tewkesbury in Gloucestershire.
Disease control zones have been put in place to help manage and prevent the spread.
A 3km Protection Zone and a 10km Surveillance Zone are now active around the affected premises in Gloucestershire.
In addition, an Avian Influenza Prevention Zone with mandatory housing measures is being enforced in England and Wales, alongside mandatory biosecurity measures across Great Britain.
Bird keepers are urged to remain vigilant and ensure stringent biosecurity measures are followed, including adhering to preventative housing measures and restrictions within the Protection and Surveillance Zones.
An interactive map of disease control zones has been made available by authorities to confirm restrictions in specific locations.
Keepers can access biosecurity advice and regulations detailed in the published declarations for current disease control zones.
