A man has been arrested after police responded to reports of a man with a machete in Cheltenham this morning (28th April).
Armed officers were called to Pitman Road at around 9.15am and a cordon and road closures were put in place while officers searched for the suspect.
Gloucestershire Police said the man was found in an address and detained a short time later.
The officers also seized a machete found within the property.
No-one was injured during the incident, and the cordon and road closures have now been lifted.
A man in his 40s from Cheltenham was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in connection with the incident and remains in police custody.
Gloucestershire Police have said officers will remain the area today carrying out reassurance patrols.
