Appeal after suspected arson at protected wildlife site in Cotswolds
A fire has damaged parts of the Site of Special Scientific Interest in Bishops Cleeve
Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a fire at a protected wildlife site in the Cotswolds.
Officers were called to a blaze on Cleeve Common in Bishop’s Cleeve at around 9.45pm on Wednesday (1 July), along with the fire service who were able to extinguish the flames.
Grassland and trees at the Site of Specific Scientific Interest were damaged by the fire, but no-one was injured during the incident.
The fire service believe the blaze was started deliberately.
Gloucestershire Police say before emergency services arrived two people were seen running away from the scene.
Officers are now appealing for anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
