A417 Missing Link roadworks begin overnight closures in Gloucestershire
Construction work prompts traffic diversions around Air Balloon roundabout
Construction work on the A417 Missing Link project is underway in Gloucestershire, and overnight road closures are set to affect motorists.
From 16th February to 13th March, the A417 will be closed in both directions between the A46 Brockworth junction and the Air Balloon roundabout.
These closures will occur overnight from Monday to Friday between 9pm and 6am.
The road will remain open for daytime travel, and access towards Cirencester via the A417, Leckhampton Hill, and the A436 will remain possible.
Contractors will conduct earthworks, drainage, and surfacing tasks, preparing for traffic to shift onto the new A417 route.
Weekend closures on the A436 are also scheduled from 6th March to 9th March, and 20th March to 23rd March, affecting the stretch between Air Balloon and Seven Springs roundabouts.
Signposted diversion routes are available, and visitors are advised to follow official routes rather than satnav instructions.
The A417 Missing Link is a significant development aimed at enhancing connectivity between Gloucester and Swindon, with work expected to conclude by Spring 2027.
