New Vice-Lord-Lieutenant to support royal duties in Dumfriesshire
Percy Weatherall takes on a key ceremonial role in support of Dr Fiona Armstrong
A prominent businessman from Dumfriesshire, Percy Weatherall, has been appointed as the new Vice-Lord-Lieutenant for the region.
He succeeds Gordon Dickie in the role, providing support to the Lord-Lieutenant of Dumfries, Dr Fiona Armstrong, in fulfilling ceremonial duties on behalf of His Majesty The King across the area.
Weatherall enjoyed a distinguished 30-year career with the Hong Kong trading company Jardine Matheson, eventually serving as Managing Director.
Currently, he holds the position of Chairman of wine merchants Corney and Barrow, as well as the Nith District Salmon Fisheries Board.

Welcoming Weatherall’s appointment, Fiona Armstrong expressed her confidence in his capabilities.
"The Weatherall family have contributed a great deal to communities across Dumfriesshire over many years and I am delighted that Percy has agreed to take on this important role."
"As Vice-Lord-Lieutenant, Percy will provide invaluable support to the Lieutenancy, assisting at official events, and representing the Lieutenancy when I am unable to attend.
"I know he will be an excellent ambassador for Dumfriesshire and the people who live and work here," Armstrong said.
