A woman in her eighties is in hospital after being hit by a car in Torpoint at the weekend.

She was seriously hurt when a white Fiat Abarth 595 struck her on Harvey Street, near the junction with Quarry Street, late on Saturday morning.

The road was closed for several hours while investigation work was carried out, and officers are urging anyone with information or dashcam footage to get in touch.

In a statement, Devon and Cornwall Police said: "We are investigating a road traffic collision in Torpoint at the weekend which left a woman seriously injured.

"Officers were called at around 10.35am on Saturday 22 November, to a report of a road traffic collision on Harvey Street, at the junction with Quarry Street, Torpoint, involving a white Fiat Abarth 595 and an elderly female pedestrian.

"The pedestrian, a local woman in her 80s, was taken to hospital by ambulance, where her injuries have been described as life changing.

"The road remained closed whilst collision investigation work was carried out. It was reopened around 4.15pm.
