Witness appeal after woman dies in incident on the A379 in Exeter

A man's been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.

A woman in her 20s has died following an incident in Exeter on Saturday (1st February).

Police were called at around 12.45am to reports that someone had fallen from a bridge near the A379, in Exeter.

Further reports were received that the woman had then been hit by an oncoming vehicle- she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers say her next of kin have been informed.

The road was closed for several hours while emergency services worked in the area.

A 45-year-old man from Exmouth has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.

He has since been bailed pending further enquiries.
