Witness appeal after fire at boatyard in Dawlish

Devon and Cornwall Police are appealing for witnesses after a fire at a boatyard in Dawlish this morning (Friday 20 March 2026).

Officers were notified by the fire service around 4am that boats were damaged by fire at Boat Cove.

The three small rowing boats were in a storage yard on Marine Parade and were well alight when firefighters arrived.

The Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue service has reported this as suspected arson, as they say they believe the fire was started deliberately.

Police are making enquiries and appealing for any witnesses.
