Witness appeal after elderly woman spat at in her car

Officers say the assault happened on Thursday lunchtime on the A38 slip road, going onto the Forder Valley Roundabout

In Plymouth, Devon and Cornwall Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after an assault.

They say it took place at around lunchtime on Thursday on the slip road coming off the eastbound carriageway of the A38.

It's reported a driver in her 70s was spat at by a lorry driver who walked over to the car which had stopped at a red light.

In a statement, Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police are appealing for witnesses and dash-cam footage following an assault in Plymouth.

"The incident took place on Thursday 13 February between 11am and 11.30am on the slip road coming off the A38 eastbound, onto the Forder Valley Roundabout at the set of traffic lights just south of Delamere Road.

"It was reported that a male lorry driver walked over to the driver of a red Vauxhall Crossland, a woman in her 70s, while she was sat in her car by herself stationary at a red light.

"The suspect then spat in the woman’s face before getting back in his lorry and leaving the scene.

"Anybody who witnessed the incident is asked to call 101 or visit our website quoting 50250038220."
