Three arrested related to unexplained death in Chudleigh
Suspicion of murder linked to 81-year-old Godfrey Bradford’s case
Police have made three arrests in connection with the unexplained death of an elderly man in Chudleigh on Christmas Day last year.
Officers were called to a rural property north of Chudleigh at 10.50am on December 25th 2025, following concerns for a man at the location.
Emergency services discovered signs of a fire at the property, where 81-year-old local man Godfrey Bradford was found deceased.
Detectives investigating Mr Bradford’s death executed three arrests on Tuesday, 18th August.
An 18-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Additionally, a woman in her 50s has been arrested on suspicion of intentionally encouraging or assisting the commission of murder.
All three suspects, who are from South Devon, have been released on police bail as the investigation continues.
Detective Inspector Chris Lithgow from the Major Crime Investigation Team commented on the progress: “Our officers have carried out three arrests as part of our enquiries into the death of Godfrey Bradford near Chudleigh on Christmas Day last year.”
DI Lithgow emphasized the extensive investigation undertaken over several months and reminded the public to refrain from speculation regarding the ongoing case.
