A two-month campaign is underway in Torbay trying to get smokers to dispose of their cigarette butts properly.

The council is working with Keep Britain Tidy and also giving out free so-called 'Butt Boxes' which smokers can carry and then dispose of cigarette butts later on.

Figures show the rates of smoking in Torbay are 22 per cent higher than nearby towns and 50 businesses have joined the initiative - with more than 8,000 ‘Butt Boxes’ given out so far
