Devon and Cornwall Police have confirmed they are investigating a case of arson at a nursery - which was just months away from opening.

Bright Beams have now set up a GoFundMe page - and have thanked the local community for pulling together, adding they're 'determined' to open in time for the new school year in September.

They're set to serve families of young people aged between nine months and four years old.

The building at the time is thought to have been in a derelict condition.

Police told us: "We were called following reports of a suspected arson at an address on Billacombe Road, Plymouth, on the evening of Monday 7 April.

"Substantial fire and water damage were caused to the inside of the building as a result.

"Enquiries are ongoing.

"Anybody with any information or relevant footage is asked to contact 101 or visit our website quoting 50250086747."
