Police update after man hospitalised in Exeter incident

Police have issued an update after a man in his 30s was hospitalised with serious injuries following an attack on Sidwell Street.

The incident occurred around 5:40pm on Sunday outside the closed Eat the Bird restaurant, opposite John Lewis.

Devon and Cornwall Police are conducting enquiries and have requested anyone with information to contact them via 101 or online with reference 50260152399.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police disclosed that a man in his 40s from Exmouth has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and a racially aggravated public order offence.

He has been released on police bail while investigations continue.
