Police in Devon are appealing for information after an assault in Barnstaple

Devon and Cornwall Police are appealing for witnesses and information following an assault in Barnstaple.

At around 10.30pm on Saturday 6 September a man in his 70s was walking along Queen Street outside the NHS centre when a verbal exchange with a young male took place.

During the exchange the victim was assaulted and suffered an injury to his finger.

The suspect – part of a group of teenagers – is described as being a white male aged 16-18, around 5ft 9ins tall, with dark short hair.

He was wearing a white t-shirt, a black waterproof top, black trousers and was holding a carton of juice.
