Police confirm body near Honiton not human remains

It follows reports a body was found near Awliscombe

Devon and Cornwall Police have confirmed remains found near Honiton are not human bones.

The force said it had received reports a body had been found near Awliscombe on Saturday.

Officers were initially called to the scene around 11.20am. A cordon and road closures were in place, as an investigation started.

In an update on Sunday (19 October), the force said: "Further enquiries have identified the remains were not human.

"The police cordon and road closures that had been established at the scene have all been stood down.

"We would like to thank members of the public for their patience and support."
