A 29-year-old man from Torbay has been arrested in connection with drug offences following a targeted operation by police in Totnes.

The arrest was made after officers stopped a vehicle and detained the man on suspicion of Possession With Intent to Supply Class A drugs, specifically cocaine.

He has been bailed while investigations continue.

The operation took place in Totnes this week, specifically on 26th May, when local neighbourhood police teams conducted checks and searches.

These activities included further stop-and-searches and inspections of three vehicles, resulting in the seizure of several offensive weapons, which are set to be destroyed.

Neighbourhood Beat Manager PC Rich Hickman emphasised the significance of such proactive measures.

"The team carry out regular proactive operations such as this to disrupt potential criminality and reassure the community," Hickman said.

"The public tell us that drug dealing is a priority issue of concern for them so we will respond to that feedback."

Community members are encouraged to report information on drug activity via the 101 number or through the Devon & Cornwall Police website.

To engage directly with local officers, residents can visit the Totnes Methodist Church in Fore Street on 29th May or 10th June from 10am to 11:30am.

Attendees can voice questions, concerns, and obtain crime prevention advice.
