Devon and Cornwall Police say the city centre and Waterfront teams in Plymouth are seeing an increase in vehicle-related crime.

They add there's been a rise in thefts of mopeds and thefts from inside cars.

We're told there'll be more high-visibility and plain clothed patrols to deter and identify suspects.

In a statement, bosses at the force said: "There has been a rise in thefts of mopeds as well as thefts from within vehicles.

"Motorcycle owners are urged to use good quality disc lock or similar and a chain, making it difficult for would be thieves. Parking motorcycles in well lit areas covered by CCTV will also help.

"Vehicle owners are encouraged to lock their vehicles when unattended even if for a short period of time and remove anything of value from sight.

"Tradespeople please if possible remove power tools overnight. Mark your tool to help with identification and return if they are stolen.

"Officers are conducting targeted high visibility and plain clothes patrols to deter and identify suspects."
