One person has been taken to hospital following a house fire on St Margaret’s Road in Plymouth.

The fire broke out at 9.03pm last night (25th February) with four fire appliances from Plympton, Crownhill, and Greenbank stations attending the scene.

Upon arrival, fire crews found the occupant had safely exited the building, but the ground floor was ablaze.

Using breathing equipment, hose reel jets, safety jets, thermal imaging cameras, and small tools, firefighters worked to extinguish the fire.

A positive pressure ventilation fan was also employed to clear smoke from a neighbouring building.

The fire resulted in 100% damage to the ground floor and 70% damage to the first floor from smoke and heat.

The fire is not believed to have been started deliberately.
