Matt Taylor has been appointed as Exeter City's permanent manager for the second time, after previously serving in an interim capacity during the latter part of the last campaign.

Alongside coaching support from Dan Green, who has extended his contract, and Kevin Nicholson, Taylor is eager to lead City into the forthcoming 2026/27 season.

"I’m delighted to be back," Taylor said.

"Discussions have been ongoing for a period of time now."

Taylor emphasised the club’s need for a reset, focusing on improvements on the pitch and at the training ground, as part of his vision for the club's future.

Taylor's connection with City began in June 2007 when he joined as a centre-back under Paul Tisdale and later captained the team for four seasons.

Reflecting on his initial stint, Taylor said, "The club gave me the opportunity to grow and succeed as a player."

He acknowledged the challenges faced during his recent return and expressed a commitment to future progress.

A key factor in his decision to come back, Taylor noted, was the people involved with the club, including dedicated supporters and staff, whom he is eager to collaborate with.
