Man injured after reportedly struck by glass bottle in Plymouth
A 54-year-old local man has since been bailed
A man in his 40s suffered a head injury after reportedly being struck with a glass bottle in Plymouth in the early hours of Friday, 31st July.
The incident occurred at Basket Ope around 1.20am, and the victim was promptly taken to Derriford Hospital for treatment.
Fortunately, his injuries were not life-threatening.
Authorities secured the area to conduct a thorough examination.
A local man, aged 54, has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.
He is currently released on conditional bail as investigations continue.
Police are urging anyone who witnessed the assault or possesses information that could help the investigation to get in touch.
The full police statement read: "Officers are appealing for witnesses following an assault in Plymouth.
"We were called to Basket Ope on Friday 31 July at around 1.20am following reports a man had been hit on the back of the head with a glass bottle and had sustained a head injury.
"The victim, a local man in his 40s, was taken to Derriford Hospital, where he received treatment. His injuries were not life-threatening.
"A scene guard was put in place while officers carried out an examination of the scene.
"A 54-year-old local man has since been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.
"He has been released on conditional bail while investigations continue.
"We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the assault, or who may have any information that could assist the investigation, to make contact."
