Police arrest a 57-year-old man on suspicion of murder
A man in his 20s has died after a serious assault in Plymouth, prompting a murder investigation.
Emergency services were called to a property on Embankment Road on Monday 4th May at approximately 8.20pm, where the man was found injured.
Despite efforts from paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
His family has been informed and is being supported by specially trained officers.
Investigation Underway
Detective Superintendent Rachael Bentley from the Major Crime Investigation Team confirmed that a 57-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in police custody.
She said, “This is a tragic incident in which a man has sadly lost his life. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this extremely difficult time.”
Bentley added that the investigation aims to fully understand the circumstances surrounding the attack and assured that a cordon is still in place. Officers continue to be present in the area throughout the day.
Police Appeal for Information
Police are requesting information from anyone who witnessed the incident or who was in the area around the time of the attack. Bentley emphasised that the incident appears to be isolated with no wider risk to the public and stated, “We are not seeking anyone else in connection with the incident.”
The force are particularly interested in hearing from individuals who were near Embankment Road during the evening and may have observed or heard anything unusual. Information that may appear minor could prove crucial to the investigation.
