Man 'assaulted with pole' near taxi rank in Devon

Reports came in over the weekend of a large amount of blood being spotted on the nearby pavement

Police have confirmed a man will face no further action, after an incident at a taxi rank in Devon over the weekend.

It happened in the early hours of Sunday (16 March) - with reports that one man was assaulted with a pole amid an altercation involving a group of men.

In a statement, Devon and Cornwall Police told us: "Police were called to Queen Street, Barnstaple, at 12.35am on Sunday 16 March following reports of a group of men involved in an altercation.

"It was reported that one man was then assaulted with a pole.

"Officers attended the scene but no victim was located.

"A 30-year-old man from Barnstaple was arrested on suspicion of affray but will face no further police action at this time."
