Man arrested after woman left with facial injuries in Plymouth city centre assault
Police want to trace witnesses who helped the victim on the night
A woman was left with facial injuries after being assaulted by a man in Plymouth city centre.
Police say the attack happened on Catherine Street, near the Baptist Church, between 10pm on Saturday 8th August and 1am on Sunday 9th August.
A 43-year-old man of no fixed abode has been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
He has since been released on bail while enquiries continue.
Witnesses police want to trace
Officers are appealing for anyone who saw what happened to come forward.
They particularly want to speak to a woman who helped the victim get to the Safe Bus.
She has been described as white with blonde curly hair, and was wearing black heels and a pink long-sleeved dress.
Police say a group of men also came to the victim's aid, and officers would like to hear from any of them too.
